Buhari Wants Aso Villa Chapel Relocated Because Of Closeness to Bedroom

Nigeria’s president Buhari has reportedly ordered the relocation of Aso Villa chapel because of its closeness to his bedroom. According to Daily Times, the president is not comfortable with the noise that originates from the chapel when worship is going on. The Chapel was built by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo who is said to have strategically located the chapel so he can “enjoy worship and prayers from the comfort of his bedroom”. President Buhari is a Muslim and has reportedly complained about the noise from the chapel. Some aides of the president had already made efforts to stop the use of the facility by Christian worshippers on August 30. As a prelude, security agents prevented the Villa Chapel choristers from entering the building for their weekly rehearsal on Saturday, August 29, 2015. However, uproar over the development ensued, which caused Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, a Christian who also worships at the chapel, to contact Buhari before the security men gave way for service to be conducted that day. In a move that suggests the Presidency is not giving up in its bid to relocate the chapel, the children’s church section of the chapel has been shut and some rooms have been converted to shops for storing food items. “We had to beg them to allow us to remove our property,” said an official of the church who did not want to be named. “The children’s church has been turned into a store. As a result of the unforeseen development, we had to collapse some facilities to accommodate the children and keep our worship going. That was why the Chaplain said that the church had not been shut but ‘we only had some procedural issues that needed to be sorted out’.” Femi Adesina, the Presidential spokesman, has denied that the chapel will be moved. Fishermen Caught Monster Giant Wolf-fish In Pacific Ocean (Graphic Photos)

An enourmous sea monster was caught by baffled Japanese fishermen off the island of Hokkaido. A ferocious looking fish with a gigantic head and sharp, protruding teeth has been found swimming in the waters of Pacific Ocean. An enourmous wolffish was caught by baffled Japanese fishermen After the creature was caught and boarded, the fishermen identified it as quite harmless Bering wolffish. They also believe that the fish is one of the largest wolffish ever recorded. Adult wolffish can grow to 112 cm and weigh up to 15 kg but the captured creature’s length is estimated to be around 2m long. Despite its monstrous looks and scary name wolffish is not dangerous for humans, it dines on crabs and mollusks. Hiroshi Hirasaka, who uploaded the photos to Twitter, wrote: “It was worth flying to Shiretoko [Hokkaido] twice within three months. This guy is super cool! People have been asking for more pictures of the Bering wolffish, so here’s another one.”

Bank Robber Asks Cashier To Put Money In His Own Bank Account

A wannabe bank robber has been jailed after ditching the traditional “hand over the cash” approach in favour of asking for money to be transferred into his bank account. A British bank robber needed money for a job interview and went about the entire thing in the dumbest way possible. 61-year-old Paul Neaverson stormed into a NatWest bank in Rainham, Kent, and threatened a cashier with a knife. Instead of asking for the money up front or transferring it to a special account, Neaverson actually demanded that the money be transferred into his very own account he held at the bank. Obviously, it was pretty easy to find out who did it. Neaverson was caught at a nearby HSBC and was also trying to rob that bank. The robber confessed that he needed the money for a plane ticket to Corfu so he could interview for a golf coaching job. Neaverson’s attorney tried defending him by saying that this was a stup*d decision for a guy that had a clean past: “It was ridiculous. It only had one ending – and here it is. He has led a law-abiding life and now finds himself staring down the barrel of a very long sentence indeed.” Neaverson is charged with two robbery attempts and possession of a knife.

Frustration, Anger In APC Camp Over Buhari’s Ministerial List

The mood at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday was that of disappointment, frustration and anger, following the news that President Muhammadu Buhari had sent the names of certain persons to be appointed ministers to the Department of State Services (DSS) and were already being screened. The supposed nominations had generated heated discussions among top party chieftains and staff at the national secretariat yesterday, even as some National Working Committee (NWC) members were locked in a meeting with governorship aspirants from Bayelsa State. It was gathered that out of seven NWC members who had shown interest in becoming ministers, four names were sent to President Buhari for his consideration. A source at the secretariat who craved anonymity said Buhari had appointed the current Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. B.D. Lawal out of the four names submitted by the party leaders. “It was not clear, however, whether the president would honour the remaining names,” the source said. Reports in some quarters had it that the Presidency had forwarded about 20 names to the DSS for screening. In the list of those who were said to have been screened by the DSS are former presidential candidate, Prof. Pat Utomi, Femi Falana (SAN), a former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former finance commissioner in Lagos State, Wale Edun and Former Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries Limited, Festus Odimegwu. Others said to be on the list are Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Chief of Army, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazu (retd.); and former chief executive of the Federal Inland Revenue, Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui- Okaru. Another source at the APC Secretariat, however, revealed that President Buhari was considering some of the party leaders for appointment as ambassadors to Nigeria’s embassies and missions abroad. Prominent among those that may get the ambassadorial appointment are the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, a national leader and former governor of old Abia State, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu.

Nigeria Has No Official Religion – President Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that Nigeria is a secular state, and its citizens are free to hold on any religious belief. The president made the declaration Sunday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, at the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria. Buhari, represented by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, acknowledged the fact that the Catholic Bishops Conferences were crucial, and commended the Catholic Church for its humanitarian works in the internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in the North Eastern part of the country. ”The business of the state is to protect the lives, livelihood and properties of all Nigerians regardless of religion, ethnicity or political affiliation. There shall be no state religion, and all Nigerians are guaranteed freedom of worship,” the president said, saying that his administration was focused on the issues of security, the economy and corruption. According to him, the menace posed by Boko Haram will soon be over, as the Federal Government is winning the war. He advised that the poor and vulnerable in the society should be considered, as they constitute two-thirds of the population, and advocated for substantive investment in education, teachers’ training and entrepreneurial training, calling for the diversification of the economy and investment in infrastructure. In his speech, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike promised to maintain good relations with the Catholic Church, saying that he would support missionary schools and make them regain their lost glory and prestige; “so that they can become centres of educational excellence. “As my government settles fully into the business of governance, we hope to engage the church in all the areas where our unique competence and moral suasion are likely to bring about a faster realization of the common good of the people.”

Buhari Consults Obasanjo Over Some of His New Ministers

President may submit list to National assembly in batches Indications have emerged that the recent audience between President Muhammadu Buhari and his close pal, President Olusegun Obasanjo centred on national issues, especially the choice of new ministers. Buhari opened up to Obasanjo on the criteria for choosing his ministers. It was learnt that the president said he was seriously considering trying “new hands” instead of recycling the same old ones. Findings confirmed that the president may send the list of ministers to the National a$$embly in batches due to the likely merger of some ministries, departments and agencies. The first batch is likely to meet the September deadline set by the president. Investigation by The Nation revealed that the meeting between the two leaders focused on what Buhari had done in the last 100 days, the challenges at hand, and the composition of the FEC. A highly-placed source said: “Apart from other national issues, the president took time to explain the criteria he will be using to appoint his ministers. He said he might try new hands instead of using the same set of people that had served Nigerians. “He also said anyone with tainted records or with issues on corruption may not get a slot in his cabinet. I think he is on the same page with Obasanjo on the anti-corruption agenda. The president restated why he would need a team to fix basic things in the country.” After the meeting, when reporters pressed him for comment, Obasanjo said: “Comot joo” (go away).” Anytime from now, President Buhari will release the names of the ministers for key portfolios like the ministry of Petroleum Resources, Finance, Works, Aviation, Health, and Justice.

Okorocha, Oshiomole Say They Will Not Declare Their Assets Publicly

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and his Edo state counterpart, Adams Oshiomole say they will not be following in the footsteps of President Buhari in declaring their assets publicly. Speaking with Punch through his chief press secretary Sam Onwuamado, Governor Okorocha said declaration of assets was an individual thing and that no governor is mandated to do so by law.. “This is an individual thing. Governor Okorocha believes he is a second term governor. He is not a new governor that should be declaring assets. Meanwhile there is no law that says governors should declare their assets. When former president Jonathan was in power, who talked about declaration of assets? What president Buhari has done is a good thing but it is not mandatory”he said On his part, Oshiomole who also spoke through his media aide, Kassim Afegbua, said it was not enshrined in the constitution that it was mandatory for him to declare his assets “My governor has said while it is constitutional for public office holders to declare their assets making it public is not a matter enshrined in the 1999 constitution. Every public officer is bound to declare but the idea of making it public is not in the constitution”he said

Things President Buhari Must Do Before December

FOLLOWING the mixed views that heralded President Muhammadu Buhari’s 100 days in office, Second Republic politician and elder statesman, Chief Guy Ikokwu, has advised the president to ensure that he leaves unarguable landmarks within the next three months. Nigerians were clearly divided on the achievements or failures of President Buhari after 100 days in office. Ikokwu said in six months, Buhari must be seen to have addressed a number of issues, he considered to be non-negotiable Apart from charting an economic agenda and direction he suggested to be known as Nigerianomics, Ikokwu said insecurity and corruption must be fought headlong with discernible results. And the president must get his cabinet in place and avoiding discredited politicians and allies who dominated the political firmament in the last 30 years. Major issues He said: ‘’The president himself has highlighted two major issues: insecurity and corruption. It looks as if it is taking more time than anticipated. The Nigerian public are watching to see if the president as a General can combat the issue of insecurity and terrorism between now and December, 2015. ‘’Most Nigerians believe that since insecurity is a national issue, it must include other zones. No zone on its own can tackle the issue of insecurity and terrorism, which he said are urgent matters. ‘’The canker-worm of corruption is not something that can be cured within 100 days but at the moment, the president has made the issue of accountability his watchword in the sense that all the areas of leakages in the public sector have to be plugged. This has to involve the civil service, trade unions and professional organisations across the country. Credible ministers, cabinet The only clue one can gather at the moment even in the face of non-application of the federal character principle in the appointments made by the president, is he has distanced himself a little bit from the previous public officials and political juggernauts and godfathers, who have been in all political parties since 1990, whether they belong to the peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) or any other party or the military as the situation may be. President Buhari should not encumber himself and his administration with the excess baggage of public officers, godfathers, cronies and perverted politicians and retired devious military administrators of the past era of 30 years. Most of them are still alive, unrepentant and very much implicated in our nation’s loss of over $300 billion causing us such squalor, poverty, ineptitude, illiteracy and ill-health.’’ Diversification of the economy, fiscal federalism Ikokwu continued: ‘’Although, he has sounded a note that there is need to diversify the economy and we know these cannot be done in 100 days, most Nigerians believe that within this years, the principle of true federalism and decentralisation of the Federal Government will be in accordance with the desire and expositions of our founding fathers like Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Sir Ahmadu Bello. During this period, the economy was diversified and it was not dependent on oil and Nigeria developmental stride was more than 9 per cent per annum, which means, it is only through true decentralisation and true federalism that we can have better education, healthcare, infrastructure and electricity. ‘’The legislature (National Assembly and states assembly) must begin now and by December restructure the country to fiscal federalism. Since the reports of the 2014 National Conference and constitutional amendment of the National Assembly are now on the table of the National Assembly, it is not a question of starting afresh. The materials are already there. Economic blueprint: Nigerianomics ‘’There is no reason all the zones should not be united to ensure that Buhari succeeds. The president should set up a committee that should give the whole country Nigerianomics so that all Nigerians will know where the country is headed. There should be true federalism, accountability and probity instead of this military system. It was the military that led us astray because our traditions and cultures do not encourage dictatorial situations. We are waiting for Buhari to change Nigeria, 100 days may be too short but they can show the direction. Between now December something must begin to happen’’

“I Know Where Buhari’s Wealth Is Hidden” – Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, says he knows the location of the hidden assets of President Muhammau Buhari. Fayose, who’s unimpressed with the public assets declaration of the President, described the move as as a ploy to get “the applause of the gullible”. The governor also warned the All Progressives Congress not to provoke him to reveal the hidden assets of their members. Fayose released a statement on Wednesday, through Lere Olayinka, his spokesman. “We know where everybody, including President Buhari’s wealth are hidden, and the APC should not provoke the governor to such an extent that he will begin to reveal their hidden assets,” he said.‎ “Nigerians demanded that President Buhari must declare his assets publicly because that was what the President promised when he was seeking the people’s votes. “It was part of President Buhari’s electoral promises that his assets will be declared publicly and up till today, he has not done that. We have only been told that the President, whom they said was poor to the extent that he had to take bank loan to buy his party’s nomination, is now the owner of a mini estate in Asokoro, Abuja that is worth over N3 billion. “The APC should rather explain to Nigerians how a man they said had no houses anywhere apart from Daura and Kaduna suddenly became owner of houses and landed properties in Kano, Abuja and Port Harcourt. “They should also tell Nigerians what happened when President Buhari headed Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF) and why they lied to Nigerians that the president was poor, thereby obtaining Nigerians’ votes by trick.”‎

Angry Wife Destroys Husband’s Ford For Dumping Her For a 28 Yr Old Girl (Photos)

A furious 48-year-old wife has responded fiercely after discovering that her husband of 26 years left her for a 28 year old girl who is 20 years her junior. The scorned woman spotted her hubby’s car near the apartment of the 28 yr old girl friend and decided to take revenge on the car. She bought spray paint, knives, sledge hammer and rotten egg for the mission. She then went to the Ford Focus, destroyed it and and wrote: “We were married for 26 years, he left the family in favour of a 28-year-old called Veronika” The enraged 48-year-old painted graffiti all over his Ford Focus before smashing the windows, puncturing the tyres and pelting it with eggs. To make sure everyone knew what her cheat*ng husband had been up to, she scrawled a note on the ruined motor’s windscreen… .. It read: “I and my husband Aleksandr are both 48 years old. “We were married for 26 years. He left the family in favour of a 28-year-old called Veronika. “Meanwhile, his eldest daughter is 25 years old and the youngest is just 6 years old. He betrayed me and as you can see I am very unhappy now!” The incident took place in city of Novosibirsk in south-central Russia’s Novosibirsk Oblast region. The woman expressed her rage clearly after spotting the car parked near the flat where Veronika lives.

You Are An Anti-Christ, Emeka Ike To Pastor Chris Okotie

Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, says Chris Okotie, head pastor of Household of God Church, is not a man of God but an anti-Christ. Ike was speaking to TheCable after learning of Okotie’s reaction to his claims that the pastor was abetting the crisis in his marriage to Suzanne Rero. The feud between the actor and his wife had deteriorated to the point that his wife filed a divorce suit before a customary court in Lagos. Specifically, she is seeking dissolution of her 12-year-old marriage over alleged assault by her husband. After Ike made the claim, Okotie spoke through his media aide, saying he would not “dignify Emeka Ike with a response”; and the actor has now questioned the pastor’s popularity and spiritual calling. “I think his (Okotie’s) comment is a clear indication that he lacked the evidence to fault my allegation,” Ike said. “Is Pastor Okotie well-known and popular as I am? How can he say he will not dignify me with a response? His comment actually confirmed my suspicion that my wife is being manipulated either through blackmail or spiritual enchantment to say she was opting out of her marriage after 12 years. “For instance, at the last proceeding on the divorce suit, my wife said it in the open court that she was willing to abandon her four children and go out of the marriage. Which woman will say she was abandoning her four children if not under a spell? It is clear to me that Okotie is not a pastor but an anti-christ.” He accused Okotie of hiring a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN) for his wife, just for the purpose of destroying his home. Ike alleged that Okotie gave his wife about N500, 000 for her mother’s burial and also bought her a blackberry porch phone. He accused Okotie of calling his wife and other single women out in church every Sunday and directing that gifts should be given to them. He further alleged that Okotie and another man in the church helped his wife to secure a job without his consent. This other man, he said, recently experienced problems in his own marriage as well, over a love message from Suzanne. “I want people to look into this issue critically. I’ve never beaten this woman in my life. When she ran out of home, I called my pastor and they took us for counselling. For one week, I was begging her every day; I would go home alone and she would go home alone as well,” Ike added. “At a point, pastor asked us to write five things we like and dislike about each other. The pastor said that maybe we could work it out. I wrote mine, she wrote hers and she never said there that I used to beat her. I still have that document with me. She gave me what she wrote and I gave her what I wrote. “If I used to beat her, she could not have left it out from that then. Any man that beats a woman is a coward. I know that someone somewhere must have done something to her. How can I beat a woman I adore so much? I love my family and this is very unfortunate. Her children have been begging her to come home, and she has refused.”

The Desperation Of Youths To Leave The Country Is Worrisome – Obasnajo

President

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has expressed his concern over the current wave of desperate youths risking their lives to travel to Europe and the maltreatment they received from their hosts in African continent. Obasanjo in a statement he personally signed, yesterday, however, called for probe of the death of Nigerians and other immigrants in Libya, saying the incident is the direct action of Western powers which is responsible for the current anarchy in the country . “It is thus a matter of considerable sadness for me when I witness the current wave of desperate youths risking their lives to travel to Europe and the futile efforts of European countries to deal with those who have already set sail or have even reached shores of the European continent. “The current inflow of African refugees into Europe from Libya is a direct consequence. The government in Libya which in 2000 acted humanely and responsibly to stem the outflow of illegal migrants to Europe has been replaced by unconscionable bandits and terrorists who have forcibly seized the instruments of state to facilitate human trafficking and illegal migration for their own material benefit. “It is time for the international community and particularly African leaders to take a good look at the factors responsible for the death and destruction with the Mediterranean by illegal migration of youths from Africa and address the causes in an honest, responsible, humane and holistic manner rather than the current futile attempt to half-heartedly deal with the symptoms rather than the cause. “The sure way of prevention is the elimination of conflict and abject poverty and creation of employment in the countries where migrants originate. In the meantime, let AU form a bulwark to stem the spate of migrants from Africa across the Mediterranean to Europe. It can be done”.

Ohanaeze slams Buhari for Biu’s reinstatement

The youth wing of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has condemned the reinstatement of the dismissed Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zakari Biu. Biu was on Friday reinstated and statutorily retired by the Police Service Commission, nearly three years after he was dismissed for allegedly aiding the escape of Boko Haram mastermind, Kabiru Sokoto. Sokoto, who is now serving a jail term in Abuja, was convicted for the bombing of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State. It will be recalled that no fewer than 44 worshipers of the church lost their lives on the eve of 2011 Christmas. The Ohanaeze Youth Council accused the President Muhammadu Buhari- led Federal Government of pursuing a northern agenda. In a statement issued by the National President of the OYC, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, on Sunday, the group said the action of the Police Service Commission had confirmed that “Buhari’s administration indeed belongs to the North and not to everybody.” The group said, “The manner and impunity with which the Buhari administration is reversing some laudable actions and policies of his predecessor without minding the security implications calls for concern. The decision of the PSC is very worrisome and against all known norms and true justice.” The OYC said that by reinstating Biu, President Buhari had demonstrated that he had no regard for the lives of the innocent worshipers who perished in the bomb blast masterminded by Sokoto. The statement partly read, “Before now, we were shouting over the recent lopsided appointments made by the President, where the South-East was deliberately ignored, but the worst has come by rewarding a man who aided Kabiru Sokoto after he snuffed life out of over 44 Igbo indigenes and left over 70 others critically injured. “Our questions are these: What effort has the present administration made to know the situation of the victims of that bomb blast? What effort has the government made to know the condition of the bereaved families, considering that most of the victims were their bread winners? “It is obvious that Mr. President cares less about the Ndigbo in this country; we are saying that the current administration is dragging this country into ethnic chaos and it will not yield any good fruit.”

Buhari’s Undisclosed Share At Panalpina W.T Revealed – Daily Post

Buhari’s Undisclosed Share At Panalpina W.T Revealed – Daily Post September 6, 20151 President Muhammadu Buhari may not have disclosed all his assets and investments in the Asset Declaration document he submitted to the Code of Conducts Bureau, CCB. A document obtained by DAILY POST on Sunday indicated that President Buhari allegedly has a huge share in Panalpina World Transport (Nigeria) Limited, which he did not disclose in the list of his assets made public by his media aides last week. The assets declaration by the president has continued to attract mixed reactions from members of the public since it was publicized last Thursday. The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had in its reaction to the asset declaration by the president said that there was no truth in the published list of assets, adding that the president was not honest and was deceiving Nigerians. The document obtained by our correspondent, a Certified True Copy from the CAC, indicated that President Buhari has shares in Panalpina World Transport (Nigeria) Limited, a multinational company. According to the document, President Buhari bought 90,000 shares in Panalpina World Transport (Nigerian) limited on 1st August 1995 but this share was not included in his asset declaration document. The document reads in parts: “Allotment of shares of 15,000,000 received in response with Rights Issue of 3,000,000 was capitalized and used to pay up in full 15,000,000 Bonus shares. The subscribers of the share were “(1) Buhari (Major General) Mohammadu – 90,000; address 7 Aliu Garaki Rd Kaduna. (2) Babangida (Gen. rtd) Ibrahim – 15,000; (3) Williams (Prof) Olufemi – 15,000; (4) Gana (The Estate) Baba – 15,000” among others. On 3rd September 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari declared that he had about N30 million in his bank account before taking office on May 29. The president declared, however, that he had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank but there was no mention of his share at Panalpina. Details of the president’s asset declaration now being verified by the Code of Conduct Bureau also showed that he owns five houses in Kaduna, Daura, Kano and Abuja. He also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt as well as farms, an orchard, ranch, livestock including 270 cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees. His media aides are yet to react to this new development.

Police sources in Monchegorsk, Russia, who spoke to mirror.co.uk said the 21-year-old in question opened the coffin of a 39-year-old woman, in the far north region of Murmansk. The man whose name has not been given out, is said to be from the neighbouring region of Arkhangelsk. Officials say a criminal case has been opened under an article of the Russian criminal code on desecration of the dead and their burial places. Under the law, the maximum punishment would be three months in prison, or a fine of up to N125,000. Meanwhile, the crime is the second case of a sexual attack on a dead woman in the north of Russia this year. In the first case which took place in the Komi Republic, two men were jailed for raping the body of a young woman in February. Monchegorsk was established by Stalin as a nickel and copper mining town and has a population of about 45,000. The sexual attraction or involvement in sexual acts with corpses is called necrophilia or thanatophilia. It is otherwise known by the American Psychiatric association as paraphilia. The term was first used in 1850 at a lecture by Belgian alienist Joseph Guislain.

Rose Mensah Divorces Husband 4 Days After Wedding

Rose married Daniel Osei, a Kumasi-based Spare Parts dealer popularly known as American Man. He allegedly rented a crowd to attend the wedding and told his wife the pictures from the wedding were for a movie. The 52 year old actress confirmed the divorce in an interview with Accra-based Kasapa FM, “I have never liked married men. He was not truthful; so when i realized he had a wife, i decided to exit.” She said she ignored claims of his infidelity because she thought they were untrue. She continued: “I still gave him the benefit of doubt. I still did not want to believe it was true that he had a wife. I thought I was going to benefit from the negative PR. But it turned out days later that everything people were saying was the truth. ”He did not show any sign that he had a wife. We dated for a year. I trusted him but he chose to betray me. He is very cunning. The way he is, he can easily get you to fall for him. I met him on the streets of Kumasi. I knew he had a child but he assured me that he had not engaged her. So it came to me as a shock that he had actually married her legally,”Kyeiwaa narrated.

SSS uncovers arms in Akwa Ibom Govt House •Fayose condemns DSS invasion

Men of the Department of the State Service have uncovered arms and ammunition from the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo. It was learnt that the discovery was made during a surprise raid. The operation was jointly carried out by operatives from the SSS headquarters in Abuja and the state command, according to Premium Times. The SSS reportedly stormed the Hilltop Mansion based on security reports. After ransacking the entire residence of the governor, which is yet to be occupied by the serving Governor, Udom Emmanuel, the operatives moved to guest houses and the presidential lodge, said to be currently in use by ex-Governor Godswill Akpabio. Security sources said on Friday that the arms were found in one of the guest houses while searching for documents and Improvised Explosive Devices. When contacted, the state government declined to comment on the report. Meanwhile, Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has condemned the invasion of the Akwa Ibom Government House by the armed men of Department of State Services. Fayose said the manner the DSS ransacked, intimidated and harassed the occupants, claiming they were searching for bomb and documents, was “strange and anti-democracy.” The governor, however, accused the DSS of acting a sinister motive to run down the Peoples Democratic Party-controlled states, instead of going after the Independent National Electoral Commission suspected to have been involved in graft. He said, “Interestingly, the DSS under Alhaji Lawal Daura that has turned Akwa Ibom State and other states into centre of its draconian operations has not deemed it necessary to invite for questioning, the Yobe State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Abu Zarma, in whose bank account N15m alleged to be a bribe was found. “From the barbaric act of the DSS and other actions under Alhaji Lawal Daura in the last few weeks, one can conclude that Daura is taking Nigeria back to the 1984 era of Gen. Mohammadu Buhari and this is unfortunate. “No doubt, the DSS Director-General is acting out a sinister script of taking over the PDP-controlled states in the South-South and South East by whatever means. “Daura’s actions as the DG DSS are regrettable, unfortunate, condemnable and unacceptable because he has come to symbolise dictatorship, which democracy abhors.” Fayose, who addressed journalists on Friday in Ado-Ekiti through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call Daura to order or sack him if he was uncontrollable.” “As for me, I will continue to talk because Nigeria belongs to all of us. Nigeria is not a banana republic that can be ruled anyhow by anyone and Daura should know that this reign of brute force over constitutional democracy will fail.

Former Chelsea midfielder, Lampard, was awarded for the most Premier League teams scored against, after he netted against the Blues while on loan at Manchester City. The record was previously held by Andy Cole. “I set goals throughout my career to break records and this is one I never imagined to get. I am a big fan of the books and always read the books with my daughters before bed so to feature in it is amazing,” Lampard said. “It was a weird feeling when I scored but it did get me the record so I am also very happy with the goal.” His former boss, Mourinho, picked up four different awards. He was presented with certificates for: The most Points in a Premier League season (95), most Champions League’s won at different clubs (two), youngest manager to reach 100 Champions League games (49 years 12 days) and most games unbeaten at home in the Premier League (77). The 52-year-old said afterwards: “The fact that I can hang these awards in my office is nice. It’s something fun and as a kid you could never imagine that one day you would be in Guinness World Records Book. I’m now more focused on winning the next game than on what I’ve done in the last 10 or 15 years.” Ronaldo was awarded for the most hat-tricks in La Liga and is also the most followed athlete and person on both Facebook (over 100 million likes) and Twitter (over 27m followers).

Stop Attacking Buhari Over Appointments, Let Him Do His Job – PDP Chieftain

A former governor of old Bendel State and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Dr Samuel Ogbemudia, has replied those attacking President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent appointments. The elder statesman explained that the president needed time to settle for the best people who can work for the country. He added that Nigerians would not forgive him if he failed. He also described as unnecessary, attempts by some Nigerians to assess the administration in just 100 days in office. He said, “When they knew that the man said he met everything in bad shape and in such situation you need to clean up the system so as to start on a good note.” The PDP chieftain made this remark when he met members of the committee he set up to oversee the yearly Award of the Best Journalist in Edo State, led by a former General Manager of the Edo State Broadcasting Service (EBS), Pastor (Mrs) Sidi Lawal-Igioh. “Nigerians asked him (Buhari) to appoint people, who can work with him and he can only appoint people he knows. If he fails by appointing a United Nation they will say it was his fault, they ought to have known. But he is now picking people he has tremendous trust in their ability. “So, those criticizing him should let him do his work. If at the end of four years he did not perform, then Nigerians have another opportunity to either say carry on or stop. “All these criticisms, I do not buy them. And the people who are criticising him probably they have never held any government position, they don’t know what is happening there, that all that glitters is not gold.” Commenting on 100 days in office, Dr Ogbemudia said “first and foremost, Buhari was elected for four years and in the programme of events which led to the elections, at no time was hundred days mentioned. “That they are being done in the past was perhaps a persuasive authority but that does not mean that everybody should keep to it. A programme well thought out to bring Nigeria back to the line of development, the line of security and so on, planning alone takes more than a hundred days. “So, I expect that when eventually he finished the home work he will come out with something big. When he was elected, Nigerians have very high expectation of his performance and in order not to disappoint Nigerians, he wants to take time to plan his programme so that when eventually he pushes it out they will welcome it. “So, they can excuse him because the Buhari they knew earlier on is no longer the same Buhari because this is a democracy. He has the National Assembly and the judicial arm now. His powers then is being shared with these two arms now. “He cannot join the bandwagon, as a matter of fact that is why he wants to change the evil ways things are done before so that Nigeria will be better” he stated.

Okotie behind my crashed marriage – Emeka Ike

Pastor of the Household of God Church, Lagos, Chris Okotie, has described an allegation levelled against him by Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, that he is responsible for the crisis rocking his marriage, as rubbish. Ike had, in a statement on Thursday, accused Okotie of stalling efforts he is making to save his marriage with Suzanne. Trouble started in Ike’s home recently, when the wife accused him of assaulting her. While the actor has repeatedly denied this, the woman is said to have filed for a divorce in a Lagos court. Ike alleged that instead of Okotie, who he claimed to have admitted Suzanne to his church, to intervene in the matter, he was encouraging her to pursue the case. He also claimed that the pastor gave the woman N500,000 to hire a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He added, “Yes, Pastor Chris Okotie just absolved (sic) my wife into his church without making any effort to get in touch with me. If, as a pastor, your church member is having issues with her husband, and you fail to do anything to resolve it, what kind of pastor are you? When I called him, he refused to pick my call. He also failed to react to a text message I sent to him. Is that a man of God? “Even, if you have a police case, they will make an effort to hear from you before taking a position, not to talk of the church. I want the whole world to know because there is a lot of misinformation out there. The lawyer which Okotie hired for my wife is also frustrating every attempt I make to resolve the matter peacefully.” But speaking through his media consultant in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday, Mr. Ladi Ayodeji, media consultant to Okotie, said Ike’s allegations were so baseless that the he was not prepared to dignify them with a comment. He said, “There is nothing to what he is saying. It is total rubbish. What is he saying? Why will the pastor be interested in his domestic issue? Will he say he wants to marry the woman? “What kind of man will be saying that kind of things on the Internet? Why is it that each time any of them has any issue they always want to bring Okotie into it? Responding to the outburst will only make the guy feel important. The pastor can’t dignify him with any.”
